Do You Suppose She's a Wildflower?

There comes a time in our lives where we have to make the decision to keep things as they are or to make them better for ourselves. As individuals we have the freedom and ability to choose, for ourselves, what we want in our lives. When we all come to this impasse in our lives it takes time, real determination, and strength to make the decision to do what is best for your future and your happiness. Sometimes, the wild, wonderful passion that we feel in our hearts towards something or someone is not worth the pain, suffering and potential long term affects that one thing could have on us. This is the struggle. It is hard to abandon things that we feel have molded a part of our lives for fear of losing everything that we are. But, then the question becomes, is everything that we are because of this one thing what we want to be forever? Or is there something better for you and who you are? The fear of the unknown holds us back in life. It is so easy to fall into what is comfortable and not challenge ourselves and the people around us. Once you find that you are worth it; that you deserve respect, love, kindness, freedom from your past, from all the pain you have endured, you will then be able to feel alive. You will see that you are someone with passion for life and things that are important to you. And only at this point will you act on them. So be the wildflower, stand out in the crowd and don’t be afraid to dance J

Selfless Love

"Even after all this time the Sun never says to the Earth, "You owe me." Look what happens with a love like that. It lights the whole sky..." Author Unknown. This quote is such a great representation of a perfectly selfless love. A love that puts faith in God and others and knows that there is a plan. As a part of nurturing my soul, I am going to try to love selflessly everyday. This is a hard task sometimes especially with frustration at work. I think, that with all the gifts we receive daily, this will be a task that is worth attempting.

Valentine's Day was a perfect reminder of those people in my life who are best at this. My mom, for example, is the first person who comes to mind. She lives her life to serve her family without complaint and always with a smile on her face and full of joy no matter what the task. The second is my dad. He has worked his whole life to build a foundation for his family and support them in all they do.

Heading into spring, I will keep the well known quote in mind :) Happy Sunny Days!

Love

Love is such a wonderful thing. This week it has really become evident to me how healing love can be. It's such a gift we have been given to share and it's so easy to show love to others. This is my soul nurturing today. To show love freely and without holding back. I am blessed, we are blessed. Happiness is a gift that we are given to share through love. Share happiness today. Love someone.

A Knowing Smile

I saw a wild violet…
growing by the road;
she couldn’t raise her face to me…
because of her heavy load.
Her leaves were limp and wilting:
she felt she had no worth.
Her roots to Life were stunted…
by the dryness of the earth.
In some strange way, the violet’s plight…
touched a chord in me, so deep.
I shed compassionate tears on her
and she awoke from sleep.
What joy for me to see her now…
opening wide her violet eye;
and nodding with ‘a knowing smile’ –
each time I pass her by.
Remember the environment…
shapes the way that people grow;
and they discover what Love means…
when God’s love to them, you show!

Decorate Your Soul

The drive I had into work this morning was nothing short of breathtakingly beautiful. All of the schools were out and there were not many cars on the road making it easy to slip into serenity with the icy painting surrounding me. The road was white with salt, snow and ice and the ground was speckled with snow and places where the green grass was peaking out. The sun was rising, turning the hillsides pink and purple with light. When I woke this morning, I could have been upset I had to work on such a cold day but instead I realized I needed to embrace the beauty the day would provide. Like the quote says “Don’t wait for someone to bring you flowers. Plant your own garden and decorate your own soul.” I think it is so important that we nurture our souls everyday giving them the TLC they need and deserve to become whole. My simple yet wholesome exercise for my soul this morning was to appreciate the beauty within the icy cold day around me. Decorate your soul.
